Due to a blocking high over Scandinavia, the current general weather situation will remain unchanged for at least the rest of the month. This means that Atlantic troughs will continue to veer towards the Mediterranean on their way eastward. The Alpine region will therefore continue to be affected by these troughs from the south. Foehn winds from the south will therefore remain an issue and the potential for surprises in the weather will remain high. The southerly foehn will become stronger in the mountains on Tuesday, bringing with it extensive cloud fields. The southerly foehn will weaken on Wednesday, and, with heavy cloud cover, some precipitation may spread from south to north during the course of the day. The snow line will be at 1300 meters above sea level. The last of the precipitation will have subsided by Thursday, and moderately cold winter temperatures may return. Friday is expected to be sunny, but with severe morning frost. A mix of sun and clouds is expected from Saturday to Sunday, as well as some snowfall above 1000 meters above sea level on Sunday night.
