On Tuesday, we will continue to be on the edge of a low-pressure system over the western Mediterranean, with southerly winds for now. This means that foehn effects and mild temperatures will remain unchanged. At the same time, sunshine will dominate the sky. There will then be a slight change in the weather over Christmas. Between the low-pressure system over the Mediterranean and a high-pressure system over northern Europe, the flow in the Alps will turn easterly for a while, allowing a surge of colder air from the continent to reach us. On Wednesday, sunshine will be followed by denser, partly multi-layered cloud cover, and a few snowflakes cannot be completely ruled out around the main Alpine ridge. On Thursday, however, high air pressure will prevail again, bringing another sustained period of fine weather, which should definitely bring us bright sunshine and cloudless skies until the weekend.
