Low-pressure areas over the Atlantic and the Mediterranean region, as well as high-pressure areas over northern and eastern Europe, are colliding over the Alps and battling for supremacy. High air pressure will continue to prevail in our region until Thursday, while moderately cold air will flow in from the continent. This means that Thursday will be the only day with uninterrupted sunshine. After that, the weather will become more changeable, with disturbances from the Mediterranean region influencing the weather conditions on the periphery. With the southerly foehn picking up again in the mountains on Friday, only harmless clouds will initially obscure the sun. The clouds will be denser only on the main Alpine ridge, with the possibility of the first snowflakes. A little precipitation may temporarily spread from the south on Saturday morning. The snow line will be around 1000 meters above sea level. However, the sun will quickly break through as the southerly foehn will pick up again. We will see extensive cloud fields on Sunday, but with the exception of the main Alpine ridge, no precipitation is expected. At the beginning of the new week, it will remain heavily cloudy, and a few snowflakes are even possible during the day. Overall, it will continue to cool down day by day over the weekend.
